got an Acer Aspire 3002.. great laptop.. I am runnin both Photoshop and I can even run Half-Life 2 =)
Recommended.. not too expensive either

you'll also be able to game on them as an added extra. Well worth checking out second hand or new.

You wont be playing much more than solitaire on an acer ferrari. The 128mb X700 graphics chip is not very powerful so you wont be playing anything at the native screen resolution of 1680 x 1050. So therefore they are not powerhouses and gaming is unlikely if you plan to play anything that was released in the last 3 years at anything above 800 x 600 with the lowest settings.

Kinda like a Motorola.
In Japan there is a saying called Sony Timer. Meaning you'll only be treated nicely by Sony until the warranty runs out.
When it comes to quality, I'd say Toshiba or Sharp.
Then again your budget is pretty low so perhaps search for a Fujitsu-Siemens or an HP.
