The arrogant Americans wanted to be the first to have cellular and decided to start their 'analog' network, whatever its called. Then GSM came about and after setting most their country up with an 'anolog' network they found themselves VERY behind to the rest of the world!!!
stupids americans!!
BTW I was watching 'Las Vegas' couple months ago and they had camera phones! and they also like their blokia 5110's!!!

From what I remember, Scandinavia was first with a national mobile network, with their NMT network which was analog but awesome anyway. It has been in use up until recently when the governments forced them to switch to GSM.
