Now these figures look miserable compared to proper digital cameras which offer something like 3.3 M pixels resolution.
Camera phones will not replace digital cameras anyway, it is only used as an accessory for a mobile phone. i.e. just for fun. So we have to compromise on resolution.
Even camera phones in Japan have either 110 k or 310 k pixels resolution and people are satisfied with them.
It's not primarily resolution that is the problem, it's the quality of the pictures. 640x480 is enough but the QUALITY sucks. There are cheap digi-cams that support like 1600x1200 but they are just toys because the quality sucks.

Surely these cameras on phones are not meant for serious photo's? I think you miss the point. Its about spur of the moment fun snapshots to send tyo your friends and family? I wouldn't have thought anyone would actually expect the built in cameras to perform like a stand alone camera? We have cameras for than

I for sure gonna get one if all that is true about this mobile, enough for fun that camera there, and Panasonic mobiles are great, if battery life is enough thatīs my new mobile, I hate PDA and lookalikes I`ll wait for a test though.

I noticed these questions from an FAQ with a panasonic spokesman on
www.threegmobile.net
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How many MMS message can be stored in GD87 / 88?
A: It depends on the number of pictures and video clips you have stored in the phone. If you only store MMS messages it can store probably around 30 messages.
Q: Can we attach pictures or video clips to that we take the built-in camera?
A: You can attach pictures to the MMS, but at the initial stage of MMS, the service is not capable of attaching video clips to it. However certain motion pictures can be attached to the messages.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Does this mean the GD87 can record video clips? Can anyone confirm this?

I don't think it can record video but it seems it can play it... although I cant see how because I don't think it will have a memory card!... I wish it had... if it had I'd surely buy it... although I like it a lot!

and it should have mp3 player too!
