Yes, I heard it too when I first got the phone, but I guess I've gotten used to it now. Can't say I've noticed it lately atleast.

If you think its defect, you could send it of to a repair center or take it in to one of them, Im sure they will replace the joystick if they think that its required?
It doesnt matter what you buy these days, things do go faulty and this is why most manufactures give you a 1 year warranty.
If the metal sound is anoying you get the joystick change, If it still works and you can live with it then see how it goes.
