geneva eh? I worked in Ferney Voltaire for a couple of years and spent most of my time either at Mr Pickwicks or the Britannia down in Geneva or up the old town at Bar Whiskey etc

RIGHT! Finally managed to get the battery cover off after trying for nearly an hour with all the solutions and possibilities already mentioned...but to no avail.
This is what you do:
Find a plastic barrelled marker pen (not metallic because of the possibility of scratching the phone). Hold the phone in one hand, upright, and then using the flat back end of the pen and the pen barrel for leverage, push it up hard against the smiley silver ridge of the cover, whilst gripping the rest of the phone in the other hand....and Bingo, off pops the cover..!
One thing: Place a piece of tissue paper between the cover and the pen before you do this, just to protect against scratching.
This worked for me so hope it helps you out. The other suggestions sounded fine in theory, but I originally had trouble just putting the cover on when first setting up the phone so something drastic was needed!
Sony Ericsson, please take note: Great phone but ohhh so much hassle with the cover!!!

That was a lot easier than taking off the cover for me...
Using fingernail, slide it under the simcard while pulling the card up slightly towards you. Then gently at the same time and using finger (on other hand) just push up the card from the other end. It should slide out easily so you can then pull it out with thumb and forefinger.
Anyway, hopefully won't be going through all this for a while again. I only had to because I needed to transfer the numbers from my old sim card in my old Sony CMD-J70. The LCD screen gave on me finally, hence the purchase of the k750i and the need to get the other numbers back!

When I bought this unit, I had some difficulty at first putting back the battery cover - intact
When I think I manage to insert it fully, the left side was inserted not parallel to the right one and vise-versa
I would suggest however then that for you to use the WD-40 as your last recourse . . . though I am not 100% certain if it will wreck havoc to the integral wirings etc. inside

Wait till you phone hangs due to the numerous bugzZ in the phone and all keys including the power switch don't respond...
This happened to me when I was trying to send multiple marked files via BT. Taking out the battery was my last resort and DAMN, that was when I realized the cover was so f**king hard to remove..

.. . the bug I experienced so far was getting a flashing white screen (just like that to it's - predecessor, K700i), when I transfered some contacts from, my K750i to another fone, this happens every after 20 transfers, and I just don't want to get a flash or an firmware upgrade
!
