Hi cyco, I have to help this thread along. I have a re-ocuring problem with itunes. Basically every time I open it an error message (do you want to send a report to microsoft one) then when you click ok or no it closes itunes. So far I have tried re starting my pc, uploading the latest version, uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing the current one. I also downgraded to the earliest I could find, then upgraded it, this fixed the problem for a day, now the error keeps on coming back.
This wouldnt usually bother me except I cant upload new music to my ipod, can you help me?

the wifi connection will work as they all use the same 802.11b/g standard
not sure about the monitor thing though I vaguelly recall JoolsG4 mentioning that only an adaptor is required
perhaps we also need a "JoolsG4 - mac help thread"

Yes, a mac compatable wifi card is all you need to share your internet connection.
As for sharing the same monitor, you're lucky in that you're looking to get a mac mini! They use the standard D plug vga connector which means you can use a USB KVM switch. This is just a little box that allows you to connect multiple computers to a single monitor, keyboard and mouse (KVM = Keyboard, Video and Mouse).
More info on these here:

@Masseur
Yes, JoolsG4 should have a help thread too, macs aren't my forte and the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned, I don't claim to know everything about PC's, obviously, and I'd very much appreciate other peoples help in this thread as well
@lukebonathan
I hate to say it, and this is seen as defeat to us computer geeks(!) but I think you may be looking at a reinstall of the operating sytem. Basically, you've tried pretty much everything I would suggest so the next step for me would be to back up all my important files, wipe the PC clean and start all over again
Not the answer you wanted to hear no doubt, but it's the most likely way to get your itunes working, I'm afraid

@max
Sounds like you've got a 'extra context menu' that's linked to program that doesn't exist on your PC at the minute...
Two ways to hit this one:
1. Have you got a scanner? If so, the disk it's asking for might be your scanner driver CD. Try putting that in, and if it still doesn't work, put the disk in normally and see if there's a progrm called 'omnipage' on it. It's an optical character recognition app for scanners that is often bundled with the scanner itself. Install it, then uninstall it from add/remove programs if you don't want it on there. If you can't can't find the omniscan prog, then...
2. Download this program, 'hijack this' -
http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html
Run it, click 'ok' on the warnings, and select 'run a system scan and create log report'
Copy and paste the log report here (it's a text file), and we can take it from there

Yup, built in wifi would be fine
802.11b supports a maximum transfer speed of 11mbps, 802.11g supports up to 54mpbs so both would be fine for your 8mbps broadband.

thanks a lot, 1 more question.
at the moment the router is in my bedroom, i want to move it to the hallway of my house so that the signal is better,
A) is it possible to get a longer, about 15 meter etherent cable and a the cable that conects to my phone line?
and
B) if it is possible will the extra about of cable slow down my internet conection?
thanks so much
