I have seen some samsung phones. Their contact handling is really cool and a atleast can handle a min of 1000 phones.

On the older Ericsson/SE phones, I think I remember that in the phonebook menu (options), you can select which fields are displayed.. name, mobile, office, etc... This is to customize and optimize the viewing mode suited to the end user.
I don't know if the current line-up still has this. Please check and confirm if this is possible.
