@whizzkid: In five years time a P990 will be obsolete like dial-up wap is in 2005.
A feature that has been talked about for the last couple of years is home automation functionality built into the the cellphone...If I'm late I'd like to use my cellphone to record a television programme and check surveillance cams in real-time not some MMS message which is currently available. These features will only be supported by high speed technologies like 3G or 4G.

.. and then the cellphone won't be called a "cellphone" anymore, it'd be more like a diverse communication gadget..
in 5 years? maybe the cellphone can work as a full fledged handheld scanner by then.. and you can wear it in your wrist

HDTV will be possible on your small screen but all these will only be possible if standards are uniformed...hopefully the Yanks would've learnt that Europe knows best when it comes mobile technologies.

HD wouldnt be worth it unless LCD screens resolution can be greatly increased...even 480dpi HD looks crap...you need high resolutions

@trogdor: Don't worry somewhere some little nerd is working in a lab to bring about HDTV on your screen...Five years ago I would never have thought what is now possible on today's handsets...remember the Nokia 2110i?
