I have exactly the same problem as described (ie. full reception but unable to make / receive calls, no access messages, etc, etc).
This is not a network provider as my SIM card works perfectly well in other phones in exactly the same area.
The only other thing I can add is that I think that my problems seem to have been triggered by using the T68's WAP facility.
I also can't get my phone to work again easily!! It seems to be completely random.
Has anyone got a solution before I'm forced to change this phone????
My solution:
Here in holland companys are obiged to replace your phoe if they cannot fix a problem within 3 tries. Ive send it away for the 2nd time now, when i get it back ill send it away again (f00k them) adn they will need to replace it. As the t68m aint made no more, ill get a t68i. just hope the t68i doesnt have the same problem.

don't count on it... even though the production of new T68m is discountinued there are still T68m swap units available...

this is more an operator problem. i have the same here in belgium sometimes during to buzzy hours when everyone is calling i can't get in, it means your network is to buzzy. theres nothing you can do about it. ever since GPRS came along your network will be more buzzyer unless the set more antenna's are use a dualband network.

I have exactly the same problem since 3 weeks !!!!!
I am in France and my provider is Bouygues Telecom.
My T68i did work perfectly for 5 months before thata and i've experienced this problem in locations where I used to have excellent reception such as my home or my office ...
When I switch back my SIM to my old 8210, everything is working fine !! This is a real mistery to me. I don't know if it's linked to the operator or the phone ... I will switch phone with a friend who is on another provider this week-end and see if it's still showing problems.
At least it's a bit comforting to see I'm not the only one experiencing this
.
Cheers

This thread is a little old, but I just got a T39m, my first SonyEricsson (having had Motorola Startac forever). Well I have the same problem out of the box. Once in a while, I dial and it gets stuck on Calling... and then goes back to standby. If I redial a few times or wait a minute, then it connects. This doesn't happen all the time, just once in a while, and at *full* signal strength. Does anyone have any answers on why this is?
I read something saying maybe GPRS can cause this sometimes due to some bug in the phone, but I have set phone to GSM only and still does it.
thanks, Chris

Well from what I read of the problems you guys are having either the network is too busy(most likely), or maybe you have an old sim. Try getting it replaced with one with more memory, just an idea but maybe it will help. So what if it works fine in an old nokia, I have a 32k sim but I only get that problem in low service areas. Same thing happens on my nokia 8290.

I will soon get a new t68. Ill try and see if the problem persists. If the problem still exsists in my new phone ill know (and prolly sell it and get me a nokia 7210 :/ ).
Ill keep all of ya posted.

Actually i have that problem once in awhile..when i try to call out it shows connecting and nothing happens..then i try cancelling the call and try again and it usually works..sometimes if in the second try also it dosent work then i switch off and then turn on the phone..then it works perfectly fine...so i presume its not a hardware fault and more of a software problem...
