A real credit to the entire Commonwealth! As I said, one can really only laugh at some of it, it is just so mind numbingly rude at times that it becomes a sort of black comedy.

i believe his marriage cruelly cut short a burgeoning career as a stand up comdedian, and these pronouncements are symptoms of him pining for the life he could have had.

@gelfen
As I understand it he has resented the fact that his naval career was cut short.

@gelfen
I suppose that if guns fail then a sharp tongue may prove of use.

I have to say that a person living a life in the eye of the public will allways have his words twistet in the media from time to time.
In my previous job I met a lot of royalties and celebreties from both Norway and UK. Those meetings gave me a totally different view of them.
I met HRH the Duke in 2001. Him and the queen visited Norway and my job was to drive the Duke.
My wife gave birth to my youngest son during the visit and I preffered to be with her instead of being stuck in a car, not being able to be there for my wife.
The Royals invited all staff to a banquette and I had the přesure of meeting both the queen and the duke. He knew my story and asked me: "So, you are the one who had better things to do than to drive me?" Off course I said "Yes, I'm afraid so Sir."
His humor is so dry and well timed (most of the time). His reply to me was so good: "I understand. I'd rather be with my wife than drive me around too."
Guys, these people has not chosen to be in the public eye, on the contrary to pop stars. They are flesh and blood just like you and me. Give them a bit of a slack. Axe the ones who are celebreties of their own free will instead.

tbh - i do believe phil the greek is a humourous guy, but one that is either not mindful of his surroundings (e.g. the press) or chooses to ignore them.
