I had to use the wap site through my browser as the wap site didnt seem to work through the phone.
Will the *.dd files work if I put them straight on the phone?

To be honest. Not sure. When you download it on the phone it is an mp3 file not a .dd file. You will have to ask someone more in the know im afraid. I haven't downloaded them on the PC.
