I think its pointless having locks on phones, its probally just people who want to hide thier porn and perverted £2.50 kinky sms messages they save. Most phones dont have this function and it is not needed if you have such private things on your phone, then dont put them on there. At the end of the day its a phone not a mass storage device, its a phone with added capabilities. LOCKS AINT NEEDED!!

Why not get somebody with the necessary smarts to create an app like Smart Crypto? It's a Symbian app which works wonderfully, allows you to do password-protect any file on any drive, etc etc

I also have sorely missed this feature in SE phones. I'm quite sure it can be easily done if SE wants to. If there are programs out there to lock the phone with a password, I'm all ears.
I've added my name to the petition. Hope it works. They should try to put it in the recent firmwares of K750 and W800

It doesnt means that what ever you lock have to do with things which is bad ^_6

I agree it would be great if you could create a folder and make it PIN protected. So everything else is viewable w/o pincode but what you put in that folder is protected.
Some party pics just ain't suitable for anyone to see.

Motorola phones have this function- its called 'lock application'. I discovered this the other day. Its useful i guess if you dont want other people reading through your messages, changing settings etc. At first I thought it was cool- only myself being able to use the phone but after a while it got annoying as it asked for a pin everytime i wanted to text etc.

there is a java app called fileprotect that encrypts individual files using DES. Once DES encrypted the file can only be opened with the password used to encrypt the file (even if you copy the file to a computer - it remains encrypted).
It's good stuff. Can't do whole folders though. See the thread below for links to the app
