I think what he means is to put the phone in a mode where pressing the joystick repeatedly won't start any function. Then of course, pressing many many times will eventually remove or displace the dust and the joy will work again.

sorry maybe i didn't make myself clear. i just keep pressing in the unresponsive direction. it doesn't matter if you are in the test menu or main menu or anywhere else.i just go to the test menu to see if it registers all the directions coz you can't see this in the main menu. anyway i think it is dirt that makes this problem coz it occurs when i don't use the joystick for a while.

thats a good point, but u can turn on the keylock to avoid calls etc once i almost killed one of my t68, cos it went faulty, i pushed, moved etc the joy like crazy, indeed, it worked fine again for 10 mins... the best way is the solution u mentioned, service and cleaning!
