But the headfone amps given by both devices cannot be compared... try using the same headfones on both devicesa and ull notice that k750's volume cannot match that of the ipod.. though I believe ipods give a rather hard and thin bass compared to the k750's softer and thicker ones..

The SE phones give more bass indeed. More bass is not alwyas good, bass-sounds should also be good defined. The iPod gives very well pronounced bass.

Also the headphones make a huge difference. Those that come with the iPod are certainly not the best. Even the humble Fontopia-headphones from Sony are far better in any respect.

But let's not forget that both iPod and SE phones are by far the best one can get in sound quality.

I am amazed with k750 sound quality...it was good with hpm 70 headphones, but when i used my sennheiser mx-200´s instead: WOW!

Well I gotta say 60gb of storage with tons of tv shows, video clips, endcoded movies, downloaded iron chef episodes, etc plus thousands of songs.... is pretty damn nice on the new 60gb ipod.

What prevented me form using the k750 was the hassle with the headphones. Even w800/900i should have just built a jack right in even if it made them a little larger.

in terms of quality, not much of a difference. but i have to agree K750's problem is the low volume as compared to Ipod...

I'm using K750 music on my Logitech Z5300... just amazing! (Using HPM-70)

i've never heard the K750i sound quality but i'm pretty sure it's really good. even the K700i had a very nice sound quality for a phone. what the ipod lacks is bass but the overall sound quality is still very good (balanced, flat response). both devices have very good sound quality in their respective categories. the K750i and/or W800i have superior sound quality over other music phones and so is the ipod over other mp3 players in the market.

never understand all that radicalism about the headphone jack: if it had that, we would loose one of the cool things about having a phone/mp3 player hybrid: the ability to answer phone calls while listening to music - and that would suck big time, and everyone would complain even more than this stupid argument (because you can use the headphones you want with hpm 70)

A lot depends on the earphones you use, even with the default handsfree unit that comes with the phone, MP3s and Radio sounds good. So I believe with a good pair of earphones the sound quality might be actually equal if not better than an iPod.

Still couldn’t find / make a 3.5mm audio adaptor, so I cant say for sure whether it is better or not, but I have a feeling that it would be, cos I was not all that impressed with the quality of the iPod (it didn’t sound as marvelous as some ppl claim)

Actually the best thing is to use something like this : which has a mic and a stereo adaptor at the end so you can connect your favorite pair of head phones to listen to MP3s and at the same time use it to answer calls like the standard handsfree unit.
