Silent call recording can't be done without messing with the firmware, but when I tried it yesterday I just told the person on the other end that my battery was low.

Is there a specific reason that you don't want this to happen?

@ jenbones... you can take silent pictures by selecting the silent mode in your SE

@goner - its not that simple for everyone. in some cases - depending on where you purchase your phone, it can be in silent mode and still make the shutter sound when taking the pic.

@jenbones, it has been discussed here before, but i dont have the direct link :-\ sorry. someone may be able to give it to you.

Hi, I have a w800 (it was a d750 but i've flash it) and now if I set the phone to silence mode the camera does NOT make any sounds and also when I'm recording a call there are no "beeps" at every 20 seconds down the line - the firmware version is R1L002 Eu1 .. hope it will help you somehow .. see davinci's website for flashing phones ..

Hey u guys here is the overview of this whole conversation that i already know.
If u Hold Down the hach button (bottom right corner), and it shows the text SILENT MODE ON.. then everything goes silent....
taking picturs
making a video
recording someones conversation while talking on the phone
audio recordings
reciving calls
transfering files between other devices (computer or other cells) via Bluetooth or infrared etc
...EVERYTHING

If u HAVE the latest Firmware R1BC002 (that can be downloaded from Sony Ericsson website).
but i think u can still do this with other Firmwares too (i hope)

The reason some phones cant take photos silently (even when the phone is on 'Silent') is it is illegal in most countries to have a photo taking device that doesn't make a noise. On UK Firmware, you can take silent photos but not, for example, on Hong Kong firmware
