for all those complaining about the branding there are 2 very simple solution.
1. set your own multi million pound mobile network up contact se and start dealing and doing whatever branding you like
or number 2
just wait till o2 or one of the other companies get it

logo looks the same to me. anyway the phone doesnt look that bad but the main reasons for me hating vodaphone are that the branding is ugly and if you use the phone on another network it looks out of place and that they have limited the features on the phone which i dont think they should be allowed to do.

let voda stick their branding on the face of the w900 but not the w800. Is this because it's for voda's 3 (UMTS) network ?

This is called Mass marketing of a target marketed product.
SE makes a music UMTS phone for music lovers, although its becoming a trend, this is something Sony started years ago about making portable music a quality thing. This w900i is an internationally aimed product but for a niche market.
Vodafone is almost if not already a world player. They purchase this phone in bulk to have exclusive rights to launching it. You my friend get a quality phone at a cheaper than market value price. Sure you have to deal with the decal branding on the hardware ... but I'm sure there is a way around that. I'd just be pissed as you about the software branding. But think about this.
Think about this; Vodafone is paying the money to buy the phone in bulk. Their paying the money for a phone exclusitivity. Their paying for the software branding, and network compatibility. If you dont like the branding then wait about 4 months and you'll get an unbranded unlocked white w900i with a decent price. But to start a thread complaining about branding ... take a look at your wardrobe. your shirts, at least 4 are what ... branded. Now look at your pants, heck your briefs, your sport socks, and even your hat if its a Kangol its branded. your briefcase & knapsack is also branded, the care you drive, branded. But you still buy those ... why? because you either need or want them. Just like this phone.
Did Vodafone take away anything from this phone that the unlocked unbranded models have? Probably not other than inputting new carrier settings but thats a given with locked phones. Did Vodafone offer something that the unbranded phones dont have?
My last question is very serious and possibly important. According to some members here, the SE advertisement of Push Email is a farce. Or its a marketing ploy that only providers can provide like Vodafone. So may I ask did you see any options for push email service in the messaging application, or in the data settings?
I dont think a phone that polls for email is to be refered to as push email. Is it a software on the CD that must be installed on the desktop? Kinda like the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector? Or something from the provider website?
