Go here: http://www.dialaphone.co.uk

It is a website that offers some of the best prices on monthly tariffs you can get (many better than high street shops).

All the networks are pretty much the same coverage-wise as GSM has been around that long now. However, if you want to buy a phone then get an O2 or Vodafone contract as Orange and T-Mobile LOCK their phones so you will not be able to put in another operator's SIM.

Also, if you just want a SIM card with no monthly minutes then the best tariff is one of T-Mobile's Pay As You Go plans (they have more than one) or Virgin Mobile who for a one-off payment will send you statements every month and bill you by direct debit from a U.K. Bank Account so you don't have to top-up.

remember orange offer OVP - they price match quite a few talkplans from all other UK networks - best talkplan around is O2 daytime max - £75 a month - 1000 mins cross network + 50 SMS - calls after that are very cheap to landline & other orange phones - check www.orange.co.uk
