n91 has a harddrive these are very delicate and any knocks bangs or even running can cause damage to the harddrive thats why the phone doesnt not have a vibrate feature even a drop from six inches can ruin it there is going to be so many returned if you get n91 make sure u get insurance

just bought a w900i is very impressive

I belive that is pure BS R34GTR
I wouldn't belive tests made from other than independent party about that. HDDs are very fragile!

If you drop a HDD when it's OFF, it can brake but often it don't. If you drop it when it's ON it _will_ brake! How come?

The HDDs have moving platters. It also have read/write heads, they read and write to the platters.

When the hard drive is powered down, each head rests on the platter surface (but since the head actually hits the platter, this happens on a section of platter where there is no data.).

When the drive is running, the spinning of the platters causes air pressure that lifts the heads ever-so-slightly off the platter surface. The distance between the head and platter is very small...so small that the HDA must be assembled in a clean room because one dust particle can throw the whole thing off.

So, if you drop the HDD in ON state .. the heads _will_ hit the platter surface on a spot with data and damage the platters and you will either get cluster errors and lost data or a totaly broken HDD. :|

Also most platters are made of either an aluminium/alloy or glass/ceramic composite and are like glass to the touch... so be gentle

That is why you should not buy a phone with HDD.

You describe the technology of a standard hard drive for static use of 20 years ago ! Have you ever heard of electromagnetic lifted heads? Have you ever used a iPod and wondered why does it still play while dropped ? The N91 is a 'Smart phone' using the most widespread operating system with hi-speed Wifi for increased data rate transmission (4gig HD) VOIP around the house when used with a wireless router (I use the Barricade one) and a 'few' other goodies. Greetings from South Africa. Mario :-) This message was posted from a Nokia 7650

Nokia N91 Vs W900 ?? Do you really need to ask that question? obviously its N91 !. It has all the features of W900 + a whole lot more , and it’s a smart phone! I am not trying to condemn W900, it is a great phone by all means; however I don’t think you can compare a W900 with a N91, in my opinion they are in different classes and price brackets.

EDIT : With regard to music player capabilities ….., well.. still I would say N91 is better cos it has lot more storage space, and since it’s a smart phone, you will have more features. With new GPRS radio stations and other media network services coming up , you might want to stick to a smart phone cos of it’s flexibility.
