I flashed my k750i with w800i firmware. The Walkman branded media player is loadz better, you actually get a playback screen which gives details about the song as apposed to a permanant list of songs.

For you guys who have flashed to W800i, when you go into 'Service info' then 'Model info' (>,*,

It reads as w800i

WHAT!?

Hmmm, u know thats strange. Ive got all the walkman branded menus and icons etc.

When i did the firmware update, i had fully charged the battery and when it finished an error message came up saying 'battery depleted- you must charge the battery in another phone and reflash' and that 'you will not be able to turn your phone back on but it is not dead'. So i started to panic. But then i took the battery out, put it back in and the phone turned on with no problem so i disregarded this error. Did it not flash my phone properly? Is this why my phone is still reading w800i?

Re-flashed and now it's properly flashed as a W800i, before it was half unbranded, and still half a k750i with the w800i walkman media player.

Now it's fully unbranded, without the O2 icons and with the Walkman start-up screens. I knew there was something odd!!!

Im getting my new K750i tomorrow and i'd love to know how you flash your k750i with W800i firmware. Its probably been explained before - but if anyone has the time to let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

there are heaps of threads discussing it. I'd have to use search myself to find them so you might as well do the leg work

This was simple using the search function as max suggested.

Happy reading.

I fail to understand why you guys whinge about the quality of the mp3 player. Also, the sound quality is fine. If you want something with all the bells and whistles, get an ipod or any other dedicated mp3 player.

Else, copy only the songs you like on the memory card then it doesnt matter which track, and in what order it's playing.

I currently have 85 songs on my card and I'm not bothered in which order they play as I like all the songs, so playlists are not needed either.

I use the music player on average 3 hours per day when on the train and then on the Underground and I have not heard the same track play twice.

...just my opinion, not trying to flame anyone...

@Uncle Bob

I have a creative zen micro and a set of sure e2c's headphones and believe me when I say the sound is superb. I will quite often leave this great sounding piece of kit behind and just use my w800 not only because it is convinient but because although not as good as the aformentioned it is still very enjoyable. I am very happy with the quality of the walkman player and with a 512 card i have enough music to listen to for a few hours, have 3 half hours episodes of one of my fav shows on and still have enough room to take 100 + photos.
