To protect the display I just covered it by self-sticky plastic membrance (usually made for covering different documents). It took a lot of patience to cut off the actual size from that membrance..
Now I see little scratches on the membrance, BUT the display is safe.
One bad thing: the text "SonyEricsson" is statring to fade off. Previous phone, the T68 has wear-proof text "Ericsson" pressed inside of case.

But if you cover the screen and teh cover gets scratched, you are never going to take the cover off anyway so what is the point?

I guess I will remove that plastic membrance maybe after a year or so, depends of scrathces. But then my display still looks as new

Yeah, I'll agree with jellyellie. I started using Displex because it is so damn irritating with screen protectors. It's like eating unwrapped candy.

Why (Sony)Ericsson and others don't use the matt-glass anymore? Like they did several years ago. I have one really old Ericsson (GH 174) - but the matt-glass of display looks like new!

I droped my T300 and rang the service centre for a quote to get the cover replaced cause of the scratch it left...
"Ahh yes we do have the covers, they ar $7.95"
I was like ohh yeah not to much $$$ till they told me it would cost me $45 for them to fit the damn thing.
$45 FOR THEM TO FIT IT! Where is the money going!

For T68i owners, look at the getting a
phone condom
It won't keep your phone from breaking if you drop it, it distorts the view somewhat, and the joystick and volume controls are a little tougher to use, but it keeps the thing free of dust, dirt, and fingerprints. It's a tradeoff, and it works for me. I don't mind letting people touch my phone now. I took my SE T68i out of the box and it's original pastic wrap just long enough to install the sim card and the battery, before I got it into a plastic baggie for week or so, until my phone condom arrived.
The only unknown is the effect a lack of oxygen has on the faceplate.
