note that its a "special edition" which usually means is a cut down version. it only comes with a 6 month subscription and most pc's with norton AV preloaded comes with 3 months free, so its not that special, just another marketing method to get people using their product

Windows Vista has built in support for web searching, desktop searching, anti-spyware and a multitude of other functions that currently require third party software or websites. However, Vista also has the facility for third party companies to integrate their technologies directly into Vista in the same way as the built-in M$ stuff. It's a bit like branding on mobile phones.
Google are desperatley trying to get as much public awareness of their name and services as possible so that when Vista comes out, people will use Google's integrated technology over M$'s.
Both M$ and Google's stuff will be ad supported so, as always, it's all down to money
