@kristianm - can't see Orange getting the w810 for some time. They're not typically very quick at getting new handsets, and it's unlikely they'd let me have a brand new model at a decent price.

Nope: build-quality stinks. my 3rd K750i in 6 months and like the others, and the K700 before it, it creaks like a worm-ridden rowing boat. At least s/w more stable on this k750 than the 2 it replaced....
and going back, mt T630, T610, T68, GF788, GH738 GH388 were all screwed-together properly and not a peep of bother - s/w or build...

@dotsis, I'm interested as to whether your opinion based on a bad experience with either of the aformentioned phones or whether it is based on what you have read here or maybe in other forums.
Your opinion is important as is everyone's here, but to say they all have terrible joysticks isn't really helping much. Terrible because you don't like the designs ? terrible because of the intermitant problems some people have experienced ? Clarification in your post would of saved me writing this to actually ask you.
I think if you actually posted a thread with a title stating that "all the k series phones in addition to the w800 have got terrible joysticks" you would probably get flamed by countless users that were actually perfectly happy with the joysticks reliability, design and funtionality.
Not having a go at you mate, and I do appreciate that some people have had problems, just interested in you expanding on your comments a little as they are relevant to tot-shots initial post

phones I've used THROUGH the years, I can say that it's ONLY the K700i that I have experienced a PROBLEM with . . . it was remedied after the INITIAL release thru software upgrade though . . . poor battery life and BUGS! Rest are OK, even OLD models of Ericcson fones . . .

@jojo, if thats Dotsis's experience then thats absolutely fine mate. As I mentioned in my last post, everyones input/opinions are important. I was just interested to understand whether this was actually based on personal experience or just a dislike of the joystick design. Either way, absolutely fine, just the clarification would help the sweeping statement that was made

One of my concerns with the k700 was the joystick - it became more and more unreliable over a period of only a few months, so for me it's intresting to hear that other models might suffer the same problem, and somewhat puts me off the w800, for example.

All fones could have bugs. Hard to give u an advice, cos the one i like and fits my needs, could turn a bad result for u. Bought a k600 ca 3 month ago, the joy didnt work well, had to sell it. Got a new one as investment, this one is ok now.

yet my K700 joystick worked well (not excellent, but well, which is a damn sight better than "unreliable") and the rest of the phone is 100% A1. Apart from a little slowness in the menu the phone is rock solid. It never crashed, and performed consistantly and reliable for the entire time I was using it.
My sis still has her K700, and despite her kid's playing games on it all the time it also works flawlessly. As far as I'm conerned why would only my sis and my k700's be the only one's without any problems? I would suggest that it is more common for the phones to be reliable than the few peeps who get a lemon of a handset.
Now I have the K750, and it is also reliable. Someone posted about the "build quality" and how creaky it is. That's a crock. Okay, it does creak, but it's the case only. The case plastic is too thin, which results in the creaking. The build quality of the actual handset itself is incredible. The phone never crashes, all buttons, sliders, lights etc work flawlessly. If dropped, the flexibility of the external case actually protects the internals by absorbing shock, the creakiness is a fair price to pay for that. I agree that the creakiness could be rectified, but it has nothing to do with the reliability of the handset.
My bro-in-law is one of the hardest on mobile phones of anyone I know, and his is still going strong. He has commented on the creakiness, and is surprised at how reliable it is given how he treats it. He often drops it on the floor (wooden), leaves it in the sun on the dash, in his pocket with all the lint, keys, and dosh. His kids hammer the joystick on games, smear sticky substances over it, splash their drinks on it etc. The only problem is that the joystick is a little slow in response, but given the amount of crap that accumulates in the joystick recepticle from his pocket and kids jam hands, I think that's a minor issue. My K750 joystick on the other hand, is still as good as the day I bought it. I've had mine longer than my bro-in-law too.
So I simply can't accept that either the K700 OR the K750 are unreliable.
