many of the things being asked are more than possible - some already exist (such as spreadsheet programs).
The java platform is quite powerful. The only thing is that it's not possible to multitask java apps on a non-smartphone, but the java platform can access most of the hardware functions of non-smartphone handsets.

This is however the Australian contact page, but it no doubt goes through the same channels.
SE need to hear this sort of thing. And I'm certain they read the feedback, otherwise it would be pointless have the contact form on the site. I've heard back from them once before after making comments, see
