Speaking of non M$ products i'm also using open office (substitute for m$ word) can anyone recommend any other open source software (other than os).

Safari here.
Safari is still the only publically released non-beta
browser to pass the demanding
Acid2 web standards test.
Microsoft has publicly stated that even the upcoming release of Internet Explorer 7 will not pass the test. But that's hardly surprising considering Microsofts usual non-compliance with any kind of standards.

I find that opposite...opera is much better than firefox from what i've experienced..
