JN its a brand only Professional Photographers use,a normal user would'nt be able to afford one anyway as they cost in 1000's,..and they are are a few other such pro brands aswell which are not common household names.

Hassleblad traditionally use a large format negative called "medium" (I think something like 120mm). The format is excellent for landscape and panoramic work. Hassleblad cameras usually allow you to change backs, meaning you can have different film sizes and types ready loaded in a spare back, which can be swapped out without unloading the film.

These cameras are expensive let alone when they are digital with 39MP. But the format really requires a huge ccd to give the same definition that the film gives, hence the much larger MP's.

for portrait work yes, I dunno about action shots though - would have thought 35mm SLR would be adequate, but that's a bit of a guess since I don't know for sure where hassleblads are used most.

@axxxr - I've discussed this new 39 MP digicam to my Dad yesterday as he is in to this kind of gadget. At first he was, YES, surprised at the 39 MP feature + the corresponding price

But when he asked me what brand it is . . . and responded: Hasselblad . . He was NOT surprised at all . . . During his time, this WAS the BEST camera being sold out in the market, and at our END, only a FEW, YES (again) manage to get thier hands on with this brand
