im curious about something. ESATO means (only touch [trust] a sony ericsson) so this site came out before SE was SE, then it was just Ericsson. so did Esato have a different name? (or did it not come out before SE came around?)

@ECS yeah i wondered that as well.

was founded in 2001, and Esato was started in 2001, so im presuming there was already knowledge of the merger when laffen started the site

It's funny how some topics seem to come back over and over.
Let's get this straight right away:
Esato does actually not mean any thing. He announced that himself at the Esato

gathering we had here in Norway this spring. It's just a 5 letter word that is easy to say in most languages and just happened to be avalable as a .com domain at the time. Where he got it from as still a unanswered question.
Only Take A Sony Ericsson is a meaning that came later, wether it was Laffen or a member who came up with it I'm not sure of. But Laffen has accepted it as the meaning of the name.
I hope that resolves this whole story in one post!

So what was his motivation to start a forum based on a new mobile company with no real reputation?

We have now quietly launched the site. More sections are under development and will be online soon. Remeber to visit esato.com with your WAP phone. At the moment, the services available are logos, and tones for Ericsson phones.
so it was initially Ericsson based, it was only later that it became Sony Ericsson based due to the joining of the two companies in October 2001 (two months after that post by laffen)
at least that is my understanding

If esato backwards means otase and "take a Sony Ericsson" how did he know that Sony will merge with ericsson??? It was non-existent...
