people, people, why you don't listed (read)

i've already posted a link to wonderful topic here in esato, where you can read all the information about how to obtain cracked setool2, how to do it (sample script), user experiences, etc.

so again, http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=108200
btw: it's worth to read all, for not so patient people, see page 19

Last year (on december) when I bought a V980 Motorola, there was no program able to give a decent (i.e. explicit) representation of the file system of new Motorola 3G phones. The only feasible rule to overcome Vodafone heavy branding was proceeding blindly (deductively).

In a few months three free programs were developed and gradually adapted (MCK, by motouser, here, LeaderGL FlexEditor, by LeaderGL, here, P2k Commander, by s5vi, here), we could then have quite a good simulation of the file system.

One month ago I bought a (reasonably ergonomic) K750i, now I’m facing quite a different philosophy, the one of a phone as a comfortable commodity (kinda having a Mac, where you usually don’t need to care about the hidden intricacies of O.S.). When I read a thread like this I’m impressed: the file system of last SE phones is seemingly largely unknown, the only way to change, for example, the shutdown animation is that of relying on somewhat rude military tools (like those used by professionals for unlocking phones, definitely not for the faint of heart).

I’m wondering if a forum like Esato could challenge some good software developer for carrying out file manager programs with a reasonable true simulation of the file system of SE phones…

@leprechaun - Thanks for the link. Here's a screenshot of my SEtool2. Can you tell me where I enter the code that mb-new is talking about in this thread.

Is this the wrong program to use? I've also head of Cruiser, but wanted your thoughts before I went for it.

Hi,

I don't know if this subject is related or not, but me and some (just some) of my friends have a limit of characters for the first SMS. I think it's about 60 or 70 characters instead of the 160. Is it a bug or what? Can someone help me? Or there's no way to do that?

Thanks

Check they haven't the got phone automatically attaching a signature or something to the message. Get them to send something to you and if the text isn't exactly what they typed in, the phone is doing something odd. If it matches exactly then it may be either a fault with the phone or some strange limitation that the phone provider has implemented in a customised firmware. (Can't imagine why).

This may also be related to the language that the phone is set to. Check that the SMS language is English to see if this makes a difference.

I recall on my T65, when I set the SMS language to Indonesian (not sure why in retrospect) that it seemed to move into the 2nd SMS far quicker than if the language were in English.

Back on topic, has anyone any further suggestions/directtions on SEtool for removing this SMS limitation?

@chuckie:
On Vxxx Motorola phones this problem is solved by deselecting Unicode coding on SMS (BTW, this isn’t a menu choice, you must modify a value in a seem, a customizable part of firmware). In SE phones the equivalent choice could be deactivating NATIONAL CHARS (in Portuguese Caract. especiais, Serviço de msgs->Escrever nova->Mensagem SMS->Mais)
(see e.g. Portuguese K750i User Guide, Version R1a, page 38)
