It really is terrible, but its funny how we all laughed when the americans did it - and yes i'm including myself in that.

this is what raises a question for me - and i am not saying i know the answer by any means!

but is it responsible of the media to have shown this video at the present time?! would it not have been better to deal with the soldiers internally (and i do still mean they get dealt with properly i.e. prison!) and for the film to be shown in a few years time when, hopefully, iraq and relations in general with the muslim community are hopefully a lot better?! i mean this video will potential cause more lives to be lost and although i do strongly believe the public has a right to information some times i just can't help but think that things would be better if non of us had ever known about this video. (but the people still be punished obviously!)

anyway like i say i can't even make up my own mind on this one but it is just my thoughts! what do you think?

Thats the problem, now all british troops will get tarred with the same brush (same as the americans did) Problem is that War/killing is going to make them lose it slightly, look at Gulf War Syndrome for instance. I'm not giving them an excuse at all but you have to look at it from other angles. Also apparently the kids that they beat up were throwing grenades at them aswell as stones.

they were youth...could be teenagers...

by the way...this video ACCIDENTLY fell in the hands of news of the world...this video was being watched by 'soldiers' in germany...for their amusement...

we have seen many thigns like this...in abu ghraib...etc etc...

just another thign for britain and its allies to play down as a 'once in a blue moon incident'...

but when Hammas...a so called terrorist organisation...in the last 12 months...does 1 suicide bombing (i dont agree with the principle of suicide bombing by the way)...its unbeilivable how right wing press in the west and all over the world can potray them as monsters...

hypocrisy, lies, portraying exageratedly wrong images...

kind of like zoom in...zoom out...

Not that I am in any way defending the actions in that awful video, but I don't think an analogy with suicide bombing is accurate. One should also note that such instances are the work of a minority, they aren't official policy of the British Army.

The newspaper was right to publish this story, we deserve to know. When exactly would be the right time? Was it to be months before we found out? Years?

In the same way that one shouldn't tar all Muslims as terrorists one should not tar the entire army as thugs. The majority of soldiers are professionals who are disciplined and who do their job.

The army need to weed out these people and make sure that this situation is not repeated.

i agree scotsboy, the army isnt full of these idoits, its a small minority and they should be punished accordingly, and definately not allowed to ever return to the armed forces, its a discrace to our nation!

That commentator is a low life idiot who needs a good kick up his backside.

This is just a glimpse of what actually goes on behind the scenes, they are there to be restoring peace and suppose to be helping them out but they are doing the complete opposite.

if this isn't enough for Blair to do something I dont know what is.

This goes on ALOT, I'm glad it's on tape, but so sad this happened.

I'll wager nothing happens and they'll blame the kids.

point is, they're in the Iraqi's country and they f-ing mobbed the boys.
If it was Iraqi's doing this to British kids, there would be a huge uproar.

edit:
oh and so when this happens it's alright because 'it's a small minority' but when Muslims try to explain that these extremists are a 'small minority' nobody listens.
When it comes to an army it doesn't matter if it's a small minority, they are there on orders, and it the duty of the country that sent them there to ensure that they do their job and get out.

Weren't they supposed to be given Iraqi's new life and freedom? What happened there?
I wish this could be projected onto the streets of Iraq and for the whole world for that matter.
