M2 was supposedly released with an M2 to Memory Stick adapter, not M2 to duo. No doubt both kinds will become available in due course, but for widest compatibility the adapter included with the M2 will be M2 to memory stick not M2 to duo. The adapter is included for use with memory stick readers. There is no such thing as a DUO memory stick reader, so it's unlikely M2 card will come with M2 to Duo adapters as standard.

but to think logically... its better to produce M2 to duo... its much easier and better... rather than making a whole new adaptor right....

but either way they have to produce a new adapter. And if they provide a m2 to msd adapter then for memory stick readers they'd also need to provide an adapter for MSD to MS as well. So that would be two adapters instead of one for every m2 sold - I don't think they'd bother.

Besides, it's a fact not conjecture that the first M2 sticks are coming out with M2 to Memory Stick adapters. So while an M2 to MSD adapter may be produced eventually (SE have claimed they won't), I don't think it will be provided with new M2 cards.

their really forcing the consumer to buy new types of memory cards. What a busines strategy.

They are not actively forcing people to buy new cards. If we want smaller phones then this is what has to happen. They can't perform miracles.

I remember when the duo card came out, this EXACT same argument was being made. Now everyone loves the duo because it is more compact than a memory stick . I doubt there would be many people arguing to have a full sized memory stick in their K750? Hell, you might as well claim that they should have kept using the compact flash cards (when sd cards came out compact flash users also complained that they were being forced to buy new media)

I'm not saying I'm not disappointed at the prospect of having to go out and buy M2 cards when I already have some good duo's, but that's just life. You can't blame the manufacturer, they hold off doing this sort of thing as long as they can. But it gets to a point where every component of the phone has been heavily miniturised and it becomes more economical to reduce the size of the memory expansion than to continue miniturising the other components.

Think about the K800. It has 3G, a 3MP camera, 240x320 screen, an extra camera for video calls, and the whole thing is only the size of a K750.

To be fair to SE, they are one of the last phone manufacturers to start using a micro card. Nokia and Motorola have had them for ages.

Apparently they are going to be about the same price as current duo's.

Then the duos will start to fall in price as demand drops and the m2's will end up more expensive - that's my guess

Sorry I meant Sony don't have them. Even other manufacturers usually produce memory stick readers not duo, even in the combo variety. btw does that mobile master thing read duos without the use of an adapter?

If so I might look at getting one.
