I also used the method of choosing "continue anyway" when the aplication says you already have the latest software. Update to R1BC002 went smoothly.
Here are my findings with the new firmware:
- Hissing sound while low volume call is gone: It works! Hissing is definitely gone now.
- Photos are now taken as soon as the shutter sound is heard: Also OK. This is very good as I used to miss some good pictures because of the the time transcurred between the shutter sound and the picture actually being taken.
- Free memory listed in MB instead of KB. I personally prefer the old KB system.
- I have not noticed any increase in phone responsiveness and speaker and headphone volume seem very similar to me.
- I think music quality is more or less the same.
- USB transfer problems fixed now.
- I have not been able to test the m4a tags issue introduced with R1BC002 ( see
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=117875 ), but it is very likely a real issue

So, is it worth the upgrade from R1aa008? Or should I decide that if it's not broke don't fix it?

Ok, I just updated my W800 too. It is awesome, my early morning ears believes that the quality of the music has risen and the volume as well. There is no more hissing sound reported on some posts over mine. My camera is working faster. I believe everything is working faster than ever. I have nothing to test my bluetooth but I really don't use it. I am really happy about this update.

I thought the phone operated really slow after the 008. Now, it is all fixed. I will get updates on my test between the sound quality of the Apple Ipod Mini and the W800i. I will test with my high quality Sony Headphones. I got some songs to compare with.

ok, I just tried updating from a fresh computer. I installed the W800 drivers, the USB flash drivers and the SEUS update service. Everything works, except that when I try updating it says my software is up to date and only gives me the option to go back.
this is really frustrating....
my firmware is: R1AA008
