That sucks! Telia sucks! And in Sweden it's not very cheap to get GPRS... I think Comviq will be free yet for a while but Europolitan charges SEK 60 per month.

The ugly thing here is that if you send an SMS through GPRS, it won't cost your SP anything (almost) but they're so darn greedy...

Hi.

I live in Norway and here it's also impossible to send SMS over the GPRS-net. I've just wrote a mail to my operator (NetCom) and asked them why they are blocking SMS on the GPRS. It's pretty stupid that they won't let new and improved technology benefit the users! I will post their reply on my mail here on the forum. Maybe they will listen to us if we protest against this policy together?

I am also using SMS over GPRS here in Singapore with my T68 and M1. It works quite well (the message is sent in a real flash!) but sometimes I get the error message 'Message failed' when, once checked with the recipient, the message has actually been sent and received. Not sure if I am being charged or not, still have to see my first phone bill since I started using this feature.

No way to send SMS over GPRS on SFR, in France...
No error, simply the message will never get its destination...

I was an SFR customer a long time ago and fortunately I am not anymore. SFR really sucks!

That's really cool! I didn't know the T68 had that feature, but I just tried it on Comviq's network here in Sweden and it works just fine!

Don't be too sure about the taxes for SMS when using GPRS as the service...

The operator has the possibility to charge SMS over GPRS seprately, since it produces a special kind of charging-records.

The operators that have disabled SMS over GPRS will probably enable it again when their billing systems can support the charging-records...
...SMS over GPRS might be cheaper than regular SMS though, since these SMS-messages are cheaper for the operator.
