I think it's a symbol of defiance this building, building it taller and saying 'we're not scared of you'

Though calling it the 'Freedom Tower' is a bit corny!

@ECS, yes, I'd like to see you pictures, if Axxxr doesn't mind them being posted here, or perhaps start a new thread for it, and make sure you state you don't want people debating/arguing/flaming in the thread!

One of the most striking features of Ground Zero was the relative quiet. Manhattan is awash with noise and bustle, but one notices the change in atmosphere at Ground Zero. It was really just a big hole in the ground when I was there, most of the clearing work had already been done. The girders in the shape of a cross was one of the only reminders that two massive buildings had once stood there.

In the Village there is an informal memorial to 9/11 with people posting pictures and messages on a wall. We were on a tour at the time and so we whizzed right past it, but I would have liked to have gone up and read the messages and look at the photos.

I would have prefered two new towers instead of just the one...I think the new york skyline just isn't the same with just one.

@axxxr

Whether it be one or two towers I think they should have committed to building a much larger building(s), perhaps the tallest in the world.
