when you're next online, take a look at this initial review of the beta 2 (for example)

I think it's way better...

The toolbars have been completely re-organised into different sections using tabs. The 'File' drop down menu is the only conventional menu that was in Office 2003 that exists in 2007. To access all the other features you click the tabs.

E.g: Click the 'Page Layout' tab to bring up options in the toolbar such as Page Setup, Page Background and Paragraphing or click the 'Insert' tab to bring up options in the toolbar to do with Pictures, Word Art, Shapes, Text Boxes etc.

It looks alot more simpler and is more user friendly IMO.

I can say that there are many visual improvements over office 2003. Or perhaps I should say differences rather than improvements. The whole concept of menus has been abolished, and there are now these tabs at the top, supposedly making it easier to find the feature you want, but not that easy is you have spend over 9 years with menus, and know exactly where everything is.

In terms of features, from my perspective there are a few tweaks. Formulas can be worked upon slightly easier in Excel etc. However the main improvement (in my eyes) is the creation of the new document format based upon xml (I think), which greatly reduceds file sizes.

This is a very brief summary of the differences, so I would encourage you to find out more by wisiting the Office site (though that does tend to make the whole product look super-duper new and amazing).
