It is a good idea. Has Laffen been consulted about this as he might not want or need donations.

then on that note i agree with both tom and KK... There points are valid and if money is needed i too would be happy to chip in (but not to sound rude), i give to charity on a regular basis and will continue too, i think they may need the money more...
But again as tom also said, it is a nobble idea and very good of you boba!
Nice thought
p.s. in saying that id still give to esato along with charitys but just feel if there is no real need for this then money could maybe be better spent?

A couple of years ago i brought back the "Esato closing" thread where laffen said he would need donations or else the site would close (back in the begining of 2003).
When i revived it, masseur informed that Esato is going well and no donations were needed. And if they were we would be informed.
So, don't worry, i think laffen is going ok with Esato.
[EDIT]
The original
RIP Esato thread
[EDIT II]
My own topic about the financial update:
Remember the "RIP Esato" thread. (Situation now?)

The question is not, if laffen or esato needs money or not, my thought is more to share on this way the costs, i learned sg important in my life, nothing is for free in it. We always pay on a certain way for everything, the rule of sg for sg is, what imo would be great. If at least some costs could be shared, way more features and up-downloads would be possible.

How the hell will you give him something if he doesn't accept it? (or at least doesn't tell you how to do it...)
BTW:
Quote:
Esato supporters
Esato is an independent Web Site with focus on Sony Ericsson products and solutions. We are not endorsed by Sony Ericsson and are providing all our services for free to the end user.
Running such a large site with more than 50.000 visitors per day requires both human and financial resources. We once accepted donations to keep the site alive, but that was in the past.

I think its a good idea, personally i sell alot here at Esato without a penny being charged. If i can help by donating a little money a month or every other month i will definately do so.
If i was to sell as many items on Ebay as i do here, i would've been charged a heck of a lot of money, Esato does not charge us and we are grateful for this but as Boba says we should give as well as take.
Boba, i am behind you on this all the way.
I will donate whatever i can whenever possible.
Thanks

@krubach for the last time, its not if he asks for it or not, to support sg doesnt mean that without the donation esato goes down.

@Bobafett for the last time, its not if we should support it or not, to donate things mean that the other side should accept the donation.

@krubach would u accept a bit support? Just imagine that u are the host, all fine with the site, but then the community offer u to share a bit the costs, cos the site itself is on the same way important for members and the host. Any support should have been judged as appretiaton and respect, instead of "my god, now i own them sg" thought.

that wa a couple of years ago and my comment was based on something that laffen had posted recently befoe that.
but... being 2 years ago anything can change and I have no idea of the current situation.
however, though a noble gesture, I feel this whole scheme is over complicated and if members were to donate it should simply be for any member, not just traders, and via paypal or some other easy method.
I personally think this requires a comment from laffen as to whether this topic is even required
