They've been developing them jointly since 2003 so I don't know why one is quicker than the other
I always remember reading that Sony had either purchased, part-purchased or had something to do with Sandisk a few years back.

Sandisk makes both memory cards. but some cards are faster than other, even from the same maker. does sandisk ones read "hi-speed" and sony's not?
