with only £1000 to spend on a complete system i dont think the best place to go is a convention - unless you dont mind being gutted with your £1000 system

Places like sevenoaks are very professional and will setiup a lot of demos for you - even in one day, also theyre staff are very good.... Richersounds on teh other hand has a bunch on monkeys working for them so be careful when take advise from them appologies to anyone who works at richersounds lol

But dont get me wrong £1000 in my eyes is a lot of money...... Just theres a lot of money out there in high-end audio...... go to teh B&W website: http://www.bwspeakers.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/global.main wow - i know

@fatreg, have a look in the AV Forums HERE. Perhaps someone could recommend you a good system, or like leeboy says, point you in the direction of a good shop that will look after you.

Fatreg, you can get Arcam Alpha Amps etc for under £200 on ebay Great amp mate, i have teh alpha 9 - very powerful bud If you can find a Alpha 10 then you've got a very very good amp BAre in mind thers no point in spending say £500 on a amp, £50 on cd player, £200 on speakers etc...... You SHOULD always buy a even system and interconnects are very important and not cheap - recommend teh PAcific Yellow cambridge audio cable (£30 a pop) and you'll need 3 or 4 of them... also speaker cable is very important..... rough price £4 a meter....

The good thing about teh alpha amps (or most high end amps) is that you can Bi-Wire.... You can get a Amp to run the base and one to run the mid/treble beasty then bud

My personal opinion is I dont listen to Classical music or that types, I want lotsa bass and some crystal clear treble, it does all that for me!

I admit theres lots out there better but only if you need it!!
