heard the saying " you can never go wrong with black."
but still you never see many phones ( if any) with a bright orange body.

the r520m copper ( see my avatar ) is also a very nice one, its spoty and elegant in the same time. indeed, the orange colour fits w800 very good, that fone is focused on the young generation. might be thats the same reason with w550.

good question... only light colours are avaiable for w800 and w550, might be there are some third party covers in dark colours ( even black ), however i never saw any. did actually se ever commented the decision of a clour at any fone?

They probably had the W550 and W800 in white because a walkman normally implies active lifestyle, and youth most importantly. Plus, it was their first, so they didnt think about the black color.

W800 wouldnt look good. It has that orange strip which is not part of the whole body but another piece. Its better if its differenciated with the white body part.
