will the k800 work in the U.S.? or just the k790? i.e. when you say "the US is getting the k790" do you mean a service provider will offer it?
x1387 only sells the k800 and that's where i want to buy it for use in the US.

India too...but next year we r going 3G too(the lousy govt is asking the telcom operators to make a $100 3G mobile phone before launching 3G service) and theres a lot of tension ongoing between CDMA and GSM operators for bandwidth allocation which is currently under the control of defence.

brendon the k800 can work in the US but without the 3g tecnology so you wont be able to make videocalls or brownse the internet at very high speed. but the phone that is going to sell there is teh k790, k790 is exatly thesame as k800 exept for the 3g tecnology aailable in the k800, 3g tecnology is available in operator VIVO in brasil, and the other operatos are edge gsm. When i went to the US last month they never had any operators with 3g tech.

@jleosza - actually you're wrong on that one. The US Does indeed have Three 3G operators, but only one is a GSM operator (Cingular) and they are using a totally different frequency then the rest of the world, so only specially made phones can take advantage of it. As it is I've seen it in action and it's a LOT faster than regular UMTS, since it is HSDPA. I saw it benchmark infront of me at 1.2Mbps up AND down!
As this is relevant to this thread - the K800 won't work on this network since it's designed to work on the WCDMA 2100mhz for 3g. IIRC Cingular uses 1900 or 850 for their 3G... Not only will the K800 not work on 3G, it won't get any better than GPRS speeds, while the K790 at least has EDGE service, which is about 3x faster than GPRS.
Also the K800 does not have the 850mhz frequency which is being used more and more by Cingular as well as T-mobile in some areas (Arizona?).

K800 will work in the US. Your best shot is using it on tmobile. I don't know if a service provider will offer it. Tmobile definitely not. Cingular I do not know. On SE's US website they show the K790a as coming soon.
