Don't use WD-40, it'll gum up the joystick completely (wd-40 doesn't completely evaporate) You really need the contact cleaner stuff, but it's only $10 or so a can and you'll get lot's of use out of it.

Regarding the T6, my T6 fits but it's loose, whereas the T7 fits perfectly, without any play. (both are clearly marked their sizes on the shaft).

Great tutorial mate BTW how did you know all this info? I never knew that the gunk had to be 'broken down'

dead skin makes up something like 80% of the content of the dust that makes it's way into phones. You can tell by the colour and slight oiliness of the gunk inside well used cells (I've seen a few). It's paler than dust and more sticky. sounds gross I know but that's the root of the problem - the deak skin cells lay a fine coat of oil over everything. this attracts more dead skin cells, until it's so bad it's gumming up the works.

You just can't remove that stuff with a brush or compressed air. You need a strong jet of very mild solvent to break it down and wash it away, a.k.a. contact cleaner.

I knew this from experience but I have also seen studies (believe it or not they exist) into just how many dead cells slough off the body every second. It's a veritable rain of dead skin No wonder your joy scrubbs out so quickly.

Ebay's your best bet, it's where I usually get things like that from.

You can do it without removing the back cover, just the front one

Yes, those need to be removed as they hold the front cover in place
