Absolutely right
Your PC should only be capable of doing what you want it to do. The only reason that mine is a halfway decent rig is because I use Flight Simulator a lot and it looks rubbish on low quality.
And I work in the trade so I sometimes get very cheap bits

noo whizkid! you are a victim of socket 754 like me! no processor upgrades, so you gotta splash out on a new mobo as well. It sucks!

1GB should do it Whizkidd...
Depending on what your doing, going to 2GB is really only needed for heavy gaming etc.

There are lot's of things you can use buckets of RAM for, not just games. I run serveral virtual machines at once sometimes - 1GB RAM is VERY useful there, 2 even more so.
My machine is a P4 3.0GHz, intel mobo, 1.25GB of RAM, 120GB HDD, DVD burner, 400W True Power(tm) PSU, digital sound (onboard), RADEON 9250 128MB video, Avermedia TV card (analog), 17in TFT, Creative Cambridge Sound Works surround sound system.

Indeed, more the RAM its better. I often fill my RAM by multitasking alone. and remember vista will eat your RAM,i reckon 2Gb or even 4G RAM will be needed by vista for multitasking and gaming.
