If you're in Japan why would you have a non Japanese lptop anyways? Products made in Japan for the local market are always way superior.

On a serious note....
I had a dell inspiron 510m laptop which great when it worked when all of a sudden it stopped charging and when i plugged the power lead in i got a strange burning smell....and would you beleive it the thing was 1 week over its year warranty grrrrrrrrrrr.
So ok i will phone Dell...they tell me it is a common problem and i should never use the power lead...to my horror i was like so what happens when the battery runs out you complete idiot.
Anyway cut a long story short turns out the female connectors solder had come loose and thats what caused the problem to which again they admitted was very common.
So i asked how much to repair....and again to my horror they said £480 (or thereabouts). I was like WTF...they said i needed a whole new motherboard as it is not a seperate replaceable item and labour charges as well as shipping and handlng.
Anyway a few phone calls later to my house insurance and i found they covered me for this and replaced it with a Fujitsu Siemens amilo pro v2045. Much much better - wide screen, dvd dual layer rewriter, 1 gb DDR, 1.753 Ghz Celeron, ATI Radion 128 MB GPU, firewire, SD card reader, 8 USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit ethernet and 80 GB HDD etc etc. SOOOO much better than the Dell.
At first i though Fujitsu Siemens hmmm but they infact great laptops.
My Dell was 1.5 Ghz chip, 512 DDR and thats about it lol.
So in my opinion Dell Laptops are good but when they go wrong they sting ya BIG time. I would never recommend buying one anyway.

So does your building have 3-4 thousand fire extinguishers under you desks?
