If you flash using Davinci to a W800i, then SEUS will still recognise the handset as a K750i. The IMEI number does tell SEUS what model of handset it is. I can confirm this and so can anyone else by looking at the picture SEUS brings up when you try to update it.
Also, try putting your IMEI number in this form:
