I agree with Mart89.

I use Ultimate Ears and Etymotic's which are professional in ear monitors (or headphones). They shut out about 98% of all external noise and they do not damage your ears and I use them every day. Have them in my ears right now. They key is common sense with usage.

Common sense + reasonable volume levels = non hearing damage.

This is just like the iPod suit. If it is too loud then turn it down.

I listen to it almost 4 hours everyday at 4 bars. If you need more than 4bars, then there is something else wrong with your ears.

i think if we follow the 6 rule then we should be ok:

60% volume

for no more than 60mins

for no more than 6 times a week

It also depends on what kind of equilizer settings you have. Mega bass isnt just going to make u hearing impaired, but insane aswell.

Megabass was nice on the K750i's standard headset, but on the HPM-70 the standard setting even has too much bass for me somethimes!

Dude, did you read what you wrote before you hit the enter key? Hearing is subjective. It depends on age of the listener, type of music, frequencies involved, dynamics of the music, quality of the headphones (better ones reproduce sound best in most cases), etc. Second, which "we" are you talking about? I listen to my headphones everyday, sometimes less than 6 hours, sometimes more. Sometimes loud, sometimes soft. I think I am in a better position to know what is appropriate for me and what not, as are the other thread participants. Maybe you were trying to help and I hate to be pedantic, but I think I can decide what is best for my hearing and I promise I will not come running to you saying you were right.

well the hpm-70 is a good alternative to not going deaf as they are in ear phones. Blocks off some of the background noises (like people talking etc) so you wouldn't have to TURN up the volume to cancel out un wanted sound.

i listen to music for about 12 hrs a day ever since i got the hissing off my w800i XD XD
