It will be interesting to know if the microphone unit fits in the center together with the two earplugs.

Got the earpods. Bit fiddly and bulky. Also adaptor does not fit in the box. Probably OK for safe storage but not, for me anyway, for day to day use. See photo

we could probably make our own version of that though out of card I'm sure, I might have a go as my headphone wires are always getting tangled up, no matter how careful I am with them!

I have the original earphones I bought with my W800. I found solution for this. A year ago I was travelling with plane and there in the plane they gave me earphones (very cheap ones), but they had a good box (like the upper you've shown on the pictures), so I put the W800 earphones in that box. I think there is not any danger for them while they're in that box
