eerrmm maybe an electrical issue... coz some countries have these complete prongs with them... i have an officemate whose K750's cable has those complete sets of prongs... and i think the package came from Malaysia.
mine doesnt have complete set.. this one came from China.

The plastic bump you have on the cable is ferrites.
"Ferrites, EMI - Powered magnetic (permeable) material in the form of beads, rods, and blocks used to absorb conducted interference on wires, cables and harnesses."
Look on your VGA cable from the display to the computer you most likely have a simular thing on that cable in one end or both.
I rather have it on the cable then not. Especially if I have the cable running alongside alot of other cables.

dw: that was just very helpful. thank you sir
rockygali's theory makes sense to me. like the earthed 3-prong plugs on electrical devices.
guess it bothered me that i spent that much on a spare cable, only to know later on that it's a fake

the cable i have pictured above did come in a package identical to the left pic in the other thread - i shouldve taken a picture before i ripped the plastic apart. it has complete pins, and it has the ferrites. the package itself came complete with instruction and warranty sheets inside. so it's anybody's guess now. I'm assuming the DCU-60 i purchased (pictured above) was an old stock. Could it be that with the K750/w800 demand,

was trying to cut down manufacturing costs with the accessories and figured it'd be cheaper to make DCU-60's with just the pins needed for data transfer, and without ferrites?
To prove the point, ive friends who were a very early adopters of the K750 and W800 and their cables were identical to the one i just purchased. The HPM-80 (with the W800) even came with on over-sheathing like UTP cables as in here (later ones did not have this sheathing in the neck band area anymore. see w810-bundled HMP-80 pictured second):

My old D750i cable had all the pins, where as the new K800i one doesn't (both T-Mobile UK)
