wimax is great, and its what I'm getting for my broadband on return to Sydney in a couple of months as its widely available there, but as I understand it, it draws far too much power to be implemented in a phone just yet

the problem with the p990 isn't the design 'it's nice' even with the jog dila and keyboard it's still a 'fresh look'
nor is it the wifi g 'I couldn't care any less as the browsing is barley noticable on a device like it, it doens't have the processing power to make a subtle difference'
the problem is uiq3 is technicaly flawed to begin with, the forced signing doesn't help either, they should've stuck with uiq2 till they got it right or just moved to wm5 as it's finally stable.

It's a bit like Mercedes....
Stay with me...
The E Class is the perfect business tool. It has very thing you need. It's Practical, not too expensive to run and looks very well.
The S Class is for people who want EVERYTHING! Its not AS practical and it's much more expensive.
The P series is an S Class. Sure its bulky but it compromises on almost nothing.
There will always be a place on the market for this, but perhaps we are going to see a change to the way it looks!

I hope not. I like the P-series despite is flaws. OK it is big, ok it has it's fair share of fw trouble, ok it was delayed.
It is like a computer. big, flawed, but ppl love it anyway.
I like the P-series and I hope there will be many successors to it.

Well i hope its not the end of the p series there is still more stuff they can do to improve the phone as our friends from HTC have shown in such a short time, the main concern is whether SE has the will or motivation to continue with the p range as its share of the market is constantly being cut to its either as a result of competition from fellow symbian manufacturer, nokia whose products are constantly bridging the gap btwn smartphones on uiq and those on s60 ,to make it worse WM seem to be taking its fair share as well -though with good reason if SE want to bring out a pxxx smartphone once every 2-3years then they should not be surprised to find their share of the market significantly reduced as the opposition is bringing out 2-3 models a year in the same segment ps now lets wait for HTC Trinity

but i have to say despite of coming out with 1 model afta 2-3 years it sells amazing !! you have to agree with p910i ...even after 9500 had wifi and everything people in mumbai iv seen had more p910i den anyother sony ericsson cell phones..yes..its true...
wherever i use to go , for clubbin, offices, college etc everywhere i use to see p910i ...and it did beat nokia 9500...when it was launched later...even 9300i was launched after 9500 still p910i was juzz rocking the sales...
tho i wasnt so amused cause the phone itself is a class to use...!!

I cant see what they were thinking when they made a removable flip phone for the "Button haters" like me, but used up all that front surface area with a qwerty keyboard underneath it, all i want is a device with all the p990i capabillities with the LARGEST screen size physically possible within the confines of the phones frontal area, is this not obvious to SE.

maybe SE might want to consider diversifying the physical dimension of their phones ie have some with sliders like in the jam and k-jam,the software is similar but diff form factor.

If the P990 is going to be a market failure it will mainly be due to it's delayed release. Like other posters, I'm also asking myself why SonyEricsson can't release their phones faster onto the market.
I'm a former P910 owner and have no desire for the latest smartphone from

I much prefer the M600.

Can someone confirm - WillTrinity have Gps? Althou I like Symbian, I am open minded. S60 is the only decent symbian out there (in numbers and stable enough). Contrary to the ideas/wishes of some members of this forum UIQ is not as stable as it used to be in its previous incarnation, while WM5 has improved a lot in a relatively short space of time. Also spec-wise the HTC Series is not that chubby anymore. I fly a lot thous days (privatety - hobby) and a powerfull GPS is must (africa is not europe) Therefore - Trinity here I come :D. Greetings from South Africa. Mario.
