it does shows dns servers. But what advantage will they have for this trick?

If you see DNS addresses, then the Internet you are getting is almost fullfleged. There is no need to enter proxy addresses in browser settings(in airtel free gprs, we have to specify proxy address on our browser settings). But, can you access POP3 and FTP enabled sites using this Internet just like Mobile Office?

if it has pop3 access...hey wait a minute...bsnl doesnt have a wap only option in gprs...which means this will indee be full fledged like mobile office

I live in west and here Portal APN address is portalwest.cellone.in and proxy server address is 010.100.003.002. So shall i use these settings for the profiles instead of what you have mentioned in this forum ?? please let me know.

there are two things u can do..
use my trick or
use the mms apn or portal apn to surf the net!
like use apn portalwest.cellone.in
ip 10.240.43.216
u can try those settings,
but if u got a compatible set then use my trick coz its full-proof!

How unlucky am I?
I tried to activate Gprs via sms by sending portal to 3733, but i got a reply saying its only available for postpaid users. I was then told by cc that i have to send GPRSE to 333 . When I sent it, I received a message shortly that my gprs and mms facilities are activated. But despite of this, I could not see the Gprs indicator on my phone . And they sent me settings which are
Apn : bsnlwap
IP : 10.31.54.2
Port : 9401
Username : ppp
Password : ppp123
Now I noticed that the gprs signal appears only when i travel outside my town and that too only within cities. This means that not all bsnl towers r data capable. This sucks and show us how cheap they r. It wouldnt surprise me to even know that this is due to a bigtime scandal on mobile tower equipments involving the BIG RATS in the telecom dept. I duno when civilization would arrive at my town so that i could use bsnl gprs on my mobile

www.cellone.in/select.html and on reviewing your settings my instinct says that those are for paid full gprs. I think the sms on 3733 are free from prepaid. So try sending portal repeatedly to 3733 and there are chances that your gprs gets activated. And it is true that not all towers of bsnl or any mobile operator support gprs or edge. But by the grace of god i haven't as of now faced any tower related problem of gprs.

the proxy server is 10.100.003.002 on port 9209.
I tried your trick of connecting to pc using the settings given by you. but its not working.

After a long talk with the CC, I ve been told that the tower at my place will be fixed and that I ll be able to use bsnl gprs soon. Now am waiting...
