Just think of the money you will save, get a jar or something and put what you would spend on cigarettes between the both of you in it. You will soon have a fair bit of money, just think what you could do with it, go on holiday, home improvements etc.

Or you could join the gym that way you have something else to focus on. My mum gave up for awhile and substituted the smoking for cakes and sweets and put on alot of weight, if you join the gym you have substituted a bad habit for a good one.

Nice idea, but gyms are against my religion! I know i'd join, go probably about twice then always have an excuse for not going again!

Unfortunately not sure if the spare money will go that far, as one reason I've given up is I've re-organised my finances a bit to clear some debts as quick as possible, so a loan repayment has more than doubled, wiping out any savings by not smoking

However, at least I physically won't be able to afford to smoke now hopefully!

Would kill for a fag right now though, might go and have lunch shortly!

Good luck, I myself have given up smoking again. Gave up for 7 months then relapsed for 6 and am in my 3 week of giving up again. (Had been smoking for 7 years approx ten a day, fell for stupid peer pressure when I was 16)

I know from experience (well for me anyways) the first 3 weeks are the hardest, so luckily I have past that again.
You will notice an increase in money saved, I sure did and I also noticed breathing became… well easier, don’t get so out of breath as I used to

Word of warning once a smoker always a smoker, having a pint down the pub without a cigarette just isn’t the same anymore, you will notice people smoking more and you if like me will anyways miss the feel of a good old cigarette. But on the plus you save more, are in better health and smell nicer.

All very true Joe! I'm not much of a drinker, but whenever I did go for a drink a fag was part and parcel of it!

Someone walked past me outside this morning smoking a cig, caught a smell of the smoke and could have mugged them for that half-smoked ciggy!

Very true about always being a smoker, I managed 7 months given up before also, and barely a day went past where I wished I could just have another fag!

They do say that you're only one cigaretter away from being addicted again, and I think that's very true. I tried smoking 'socially' last time, but it slowly crept back into other parts of my life and hey presto! I was a smoker again!

@ Sammy_Boy
Mate, its all up there in the HEAD...

Take it this way...as a challenge...pretend that you get to scr3w Pamela Anderson if you can avoid the smoke for a week. If that succeed, you can always make the week a month or even a year...

"MIND" is the KEYWORD...

All Hail Bob Marley, the ambassador of Cannabis.

Well, just about managed my first day without fags. Been hard at times, I've been a bit short tempered at times but not as bad as I thought. There are certain times and when I'm doing certain things when I would normally have a smoke which are particularly bad times.

Got one of those 'inhalator' things to deal with the 'habit' side of the addiction, seem to be working to an extent, along with chewing a lot of spearmint chewing gum!
