yeah, htc normally just sell the licences for these products to others such as i-mate and network operators. however, they have stated that they will be launching the new handsets under their own brand name, hence the fact that they have just changed their logo...again!

no they dont...
HTC actually make all the handsets and just rebrands them to imate/qtek/orange/o2/dopod etc...

actually I've read in many sources that the latest i-mate products are not made by HTC (except the jasjam) though I have not seen a specific manufacturers name for those but I have seen mention of a no-name company that no one has heard of

No these new phones are not made by HTC. Imate isn't owned by HTC unlike QTeK. Yes imate has been about HTC phone so far, but the decided on not doing the excaliber(S620) and made the JAQ instead, well comissioned another company or rebranded another company's phone, and now the SPL which also doesn't match a HTC product. I read it somewhere probably M-R.

No more news about the HTC Omni, successor to HTC Universal/Qtek 9000/SPV M5000/i-mate JASJAR/T-Mobile MDA Pro/O2 XDA Exec?
I have tried to find pictures or anything official about it, but Google has not satisfied me yet.
I would very much like a smart phone with good keyboard and connectivity, and this sounds like the thing for me.
