hey... the problem is not in the phone, it is in the network. The network has a list of phones with their capabilities which includes the screen size. Say if your phone is not in the list then it will take a default screen size(which may be actually smaller). it will do a transcoding to this screen size and then send it to you... So call up your operator.

I'm not really sure about roopa's comment. Here's why :
If you uncheck the auto-download MMS feature, the MMS will not go directly in the phone (in stays in the operator server) BUT you will receive the header. And if you get the "info" and the header you will see that the MMS size is right.
So the scalling-down procedure happens when you actually download the MMS on the phone.

Hmmm... but maybe roopa is right and the operator checks the phone before uploading the MMS on the phone. dunno, but I can say that it's really frustrating. Having a K800 with a screen that size and quality and receiving 6 ko MMS !!!!!!!

hey boukob... you are partially right....The scaling down does happen only when you are actually downloading the message and not when uploading.

When you start downloading the message something called the uaprof or the user agent profile of the phone is sent with the request. using this request the network identifies your phone model and then scales down the image to your size.

Why dont you check by sending a picture image to your number itself and see if it is getting scaled down....

Ho !! yu can imagine that I tried many times... I send to myself a 50 Ko pic and I receive a 5 Ko pic.
There is absolutely no problem with sending MMS to others, they receive the right size picture. I even sent a MMS from my k800 to myself and before receiving it I put the SIM card in my old K750 to receive the MMS on it... and it works fine.
So the problem is really receiving MMS wih K800
